Had a swim but didn’t register my car and got an automated car parking fine of £100 for parking there and not being a customer. I appealed it providing my receipt, order and bank statement showing I was a customer at the time I was parked and it was rejected. Awful.

We started swimming at Westcountry Water Park this summer, and love the peace and tranquility that it brings. The staff are fantastic - helpful and encouraging, and we’ve noticed improvements to the site and facilities over the last couple of years. We, like many others, were affected by the new parking arrangements. If you do get a PCN then email the water park, we can confirm that Shaun does successfully get them cancelled (6 in my case!).

Thanks Matt. We are enjoying meeting everyone and seeing the delight and joy our oasis brings. See you soon

I have been enjoying swimming in the water park for the past months now. It’s so easy to book and to park, the changing room is great, especially nice when it’s cold and windy after your swim. What an amazing place. The views were outstanding. A wonderful place to go with friends and relax enjoying their delicious sausage rolls. The staff were very helpful and highly trained making it a great experience for the sports activities you can take part in.

I sincerely apologise for the recent inconvenience and distress caused by the Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) and debt collection letters that you have received after visiting West Country Water Park. I fully understand the frustration and concern this situation has caused, and I want to assure you that we have been working with Smart Parking to resolve the issue. I have spoken directly with the Managing Director of Smart Parking and he has assured me that he has contacted the debt collection agency. As a result, none of the letters you have received will be enforced, and no further action will be taken against you. You may still get a letter due to the processing time of the Smart Parking team. In this case please send these to hello@westcountrywaterpark.co.uk and I will escalate them again. Only Jenny and I are in direct contact with Smart Parking and are able to deal with each parking notice so please contact us directly on hello@westcountrywaterpark.co.uk. Our team are directing all enquires to do with parking to us and have no further information. In addition, Smart Parking has committed to making a formal statement addressing this matter on Tuesday 15th October 2024, which will provide further clarity and reassurance. We deeply regret the impact this has had on your experience, and I want to thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we are doing everything we can to ensure this issue is resolved promptly and fairly. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further concerns or if there is anything more we can do to assist you. Once again, I apologise for the trouble caused, and I appreciate your continued support. Kind regards, Shaun Should you have any further questions regarding this change, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at hello@westcountrywaterpark.co.uk.

Had a lovely experience here paddle boarding with my friend for 2 hours. Great facilities for parking, changing and lots of activities to do. Lovely staff and nice selection of food available. It's a shame the sauna is only available to members. We'd happily pay to use it which would round off the experience nicely. I wish I lived nearer as I would be a regular.

Thanks Annie. You won't believe how much your support means to us. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Shaun

Great place Another great evening at West Country waterpark. Great swim followed by Hot chocolate from the cafe. The facilities just get better and better, hot showers, sauna( I think currently members only for the sauna) Well worth getting membership. As always the team are friendly, welcoming and supportive. Such a great place. I would highly recommend swimming here. ❤️❤️

Stunning lake right in the middle of Bradley Stoke, 12 minutes drive from the city centre. Lots of activities for different ages including open water swimming, paddleboarding, aqua park and a sauna. Peaceful surroundings, friendly and super clean facilities, with the option of special events such as windsurfing and triathlons at certain times of the year. Discovered this place at the end of the summer and wish I had earlier!

Really disappointed to receive a parking notice fine. Why do they need this, surely no-one would park there unless they're using the water park.
Reply from West Country Water Park 2024.10.03
Hey Louise I cannot tell you how tiring it is to read these low-star reviews form people with big opinions. There are over 16 signs stating that we do not charge customers to park at the West Country Water Park. We do charge everyone else as that is fair to paying customers who would like the convenience of a car parking place. If you purchased anything from us during your visit to West Country Water Park, send that proof of purchase and your parking charge and I will request that it get cancelled. Thank you to everyone, all 6000 of you, who has supported us through this transition period. We are listening to your feedback and will continue to make the park the safe tranquil place that it is. Extremely aggressive and overzealous staff, especially the lady with dark curly hair that looks out over the water. The place stinks of mould. They don't accept cash... which they won't mention until you've ordered, much the same as they don't mention you need to enter your cars registration on the iPad. The fish are being neglected and are starving (Rspca are informed). They have the nerve to try and charge people to park whilst frequenting and spending in they're establishment like they're based in Cabot circus etc. The price of drinks are very expensive.

Hi Marcus Wow, good morning :-) I am stunned at your review. Seriously are you sure you attended the West Country Water Park, in Bradley Stoke, near Bristol? My Team... Sarah is extremely friendly and she always follows the rules. Requesting you to do the same is perfectly acceptable and correct. We do not want anyone getting hurt, including you! Mould... I suspect you may have walked in directly after or during a batch of swimmers had exited the water. The floors can get wet and with all wet warm areas this takes a few moments to clear out. The bottom floor has 25 doors, most of which are open when customers are using the facility. Cash... costs us to accept. Less the 0.01% of our customers every want to pay using cash. Thanks for your feedback. Car Park... There are 16 signs stating the customers, that is people who purchase items or sessions from the West Country Water Park DO NOT NEED TO PAY FOR PARKING. They do however need to enter in their car registrations. I am sure you know better than the fish experts from the Environmental Agency. They are happy in their NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. The lake is in great condition with all manner of wild life thriving here. Hence the water is perfectly clean, unlike so many other venues that get filled with nasties EVERYTIME it rains. We do not have this problem as the lake is filled directly from the rain, from the sky not runoff, and our borehole. I am sorry you did not enjoy your visit. It is such a pity, everyday we hear laughter, we see smiles and enjoy the company of so many wonderful people. We work hard to make the West Country Water Park a safe, inclusive, happy and welcoming place. I do hope you will revisit, take a walk around the lake, listen to the birds and enjoy the scenery. I usually go there in the summer to have a coffe by the lake. They recently put in place a parking payment system and I was not aware, so I received a £100 parking fine cause I should have registered my car. I went to discuss with them and they said I should present my bank statement as a proof of my purchases there that day to be able to claim. I told them I didn't want to ask my friend (he paid that time) for a bank statement and asked for an alternative way, but they didn't provide any. They said they were so sorry. Btw, if you try to call on the phone no one will pick up. Customer service at its best.

The aqua park (inflatables) was so much fun, even for me as a 40 something year old! The staff were all lovely and friendly too! The site is still being redeveloped so the facilities are basic but that didn't stop the fun and we are looking forward to seeing how it changes each time we go back! Fully recommended!! Edit: I've started swimming here now! Love it!

Similarly to others, I'm highly disappointed for having received a parking fine and failing the appeal - despite paying for a swim and entering the car details onto the system. Those parking signs are hopeless and are barely noticeable. An email and multiple phone calls to the park to resolve the issue received no answer. Such a shame, I've been coming to the park now since it reopened - I'm now not inclined to return.

Awful experience. Manager was very rude. The state of the wetsuits were ripped. My son didn’t want to use it. We asked for a refund and told ‘no’ as the directors don’t allow refunds. We were part of a large rugby booking with over 25 kids. An awful response from certain members of staff.
Reply from West Country Water Park 2024.09.22
Hi Gary, I’ve reviewed today’s incident, and I’m disappointed that it escalated to the point where my team felt mistreated, followed by an inaccurate review of the events. The situation was witnessed by two other staff members, and I have also reviewed the CCTV footage. Our no-refund policy is clearly stated, and my colleague was simply following that policy. Regarding the wetsuits, they are regularly inspected, and any that are not in perfect condition are promptly removed from use. I hope you’ll take a moment to reflect on the interaction and consider apologizing to the staff member, who handled the situation both kindly and correctly. It’s important to me that future customers do not get the wrong impression, as my team works hard to deliver excellent service and always takes responsibility when necessary. The safety, wellbeing, and happiness of our customers are our top priorities. Unfortunately, your demands were unfair and did not justify a 1-star review, and mistreating anyone is never acceptable. We enjoyed our swim at the park but I've just received a parking ticket. At no point did anyone at reception mention parking fees. Pretty shocked to receive a threatening letter with a £100 fine attached which I assumed my father will also get after 4 of us paid for a swimming session. Seriously disappointing.
Reply from West Country Water Park 2024.09.19
Hey Paul. If you email hello@westcountrywaterpark.co.uk I’ll get the fine suppressed as you were a customer. Did you try to get in touch? I am sure that would be a reasonable thing to do, don't you? How can I help if you don't reach out first? I reply to all our hello@emails within 24 hours Shaun

Visited with friends and my daughter on 14th August. Entered my registration number in to the tablet at reception when on site yet have received a parking fine in the last few days. Have tried on multiple occasions each day since to call the site but get an automated message without any dialling tone on every single occasion. Have submitted a request for contact via website a few days ago but have heard nothing although got email confirmation my request was submitted successfully. Very disappointed to have received this after being a paying customer onsite who has followed the rules. Has tarnished my opinion of the site after causing me on due stress when receiving this and feel others should be aware this could happen. Have submitted an appeal to the charging company with evidence of being an onsite customer and will not be paying the fine. Will say the time my daughter had here before this was quite enjoyable. Would have been a 4 star review previously.

CASHLESS!!!!!!! Ridiculous health and safety measures even though I wasn't on my on, and we would have had to sign a waiver too??? So what's the point in the health and safety. Not for me thanks. Hi Shaun, my review refers to the whole lot. You are another tiny step towards a cashless society which will not be a happy place to live if we ever get there. I don't think you people understand how important cash is and the anonymity of it. Regarding health and safety, if I have to sign a waiver why the excessive health and safety too, surely one or other is enough? Other similar places don't have these extremes and manage perfectly well. All I wanted to do was come for a swim, but suddenly I had to buy or rent a cap and flotation device which then adds a lot of money to the already pricey £8. And why, I was with a friend so I wasn't alone. I am sure some people love this way of doing things, but the mainstream approach is not for me and it won't be for others either, hopefully I will have saved a few people a wasted journey.
Reply from West Country Water Park 2024.09.11
Hi Damian, I’m not sure what your 1-star review refers to. Were you expecting to pay with cash? As a business, we decided not to handle cash due to the administrative burden it creates, which is why we no longer accept it. We take pride in offering a safe and welcoming environment, and we work hard to maintain a good balance in our venue. Could you explain why you find this approach unreasonable? Regarding the waivers, we understand the concern. While we’d prefer not to require them, we must wait for approval from our legal team before making any changes. For now, all guests are required to complete them. We’re always open to feedback and ways to improve. However, I believe your review doesn’t fairly reflect our efforts and feels like a missed opportunity for constructive input. Shaun

Great water park however why do you need to charge to park a car in a Gravel car park away from anywhere else??? Just making money when it should be free car parking 😡😡😡😡
Reply from West Country Water Park 2024.09.06
Hi Rob. It was not done to raise money but to avoid loosing money. We’ve had people park for the whole day, eat their own food and then leave their rubbish etc which cost us thousands of pounds last year. If you are a paying customer your parking is validated so you won’t pay anything. If you are a member you get your registration logged and again don’t pay anything. If you have received a fine as a customer we can request it get’s cancelled. I hope you join us again soon Shaun

Really great centre and a fantastic lake to swim around. Not overly confident swimming in open water but getting better now, really friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Plenty of advice from other friendly swimmers, really enjoy it. Looking forward to plenty more swims here. Also have paddle boarding facilities and an inflatable course in the lake.
