Shawn has changed our life. Our dog Halligan was very uncomfortable when guests came and would be reactive. Zen Paws taught us how to communicate with him, make him comfortable and alleviate our anxiety when people are over. She's also made him such a better walker. Our relationship with our dog is changed in the most positive way. I had given up hope of ever fixing Halligan's issues. Shawn gave us hope again.

Shawn is phenomenal!! I had recently adopted my cane corso mix (stupidly, without doing much research on the breed) and quickly realized I was in over my head. My house was constant chaos, she was nipping/biting people, and she just would not listen to me. My other pup started to follow suit and I had reached my boiling point. I reached out to Zen Paws because I didn’t love the idea of taking these two to an unfamiliar place to train when I already couldn’t handle them in my own home. We’ve had five sessions now and the difference is just unreal. Shawn gives so much insight on the psychology of dogs and specifically their breeds. She truly helped me to build the confidence I needed in order to be the “pack leader.” I realized that I don’t have bad dogs, I just had understimulated, bored dogs that were completely lacking leadership. We are all sooo much happier! I seriously can not say enough good things and I’m just beyond grateful.

Shortly after his first birthday, I noticed my formerly very gentle Italian Greyhound Louie developing more and more antisocial behaviors. He was barking at other dogs on walks and from the windows as well as nipping at people’s hands. Overall, he was chronically hyperaroused and seemingly would just wait for something to bark at. Finally, I reached out to Zen Paws for help, something I wish I had done way sooner! Shawn’s approach to training heavily relies on understanding dog psychology, unlike previous training classes we attended and saw no results from. I am a 72 year old grandma. This June we were lucky enough to get a German Shepard puppy. I am new to the breed , but my husband grew up with German Shepards. We were going to a trainer that the breeder recommended unfortunately he was 2 1/2 hours from home. We were driving there every week for 2 months- it was crazy. A friend of ours got a new puppy and found a trainer in our area. It was Shawn. We switched to Shawn and we are so glad we did. She sees us in our own home and makes great recommendations that apply to us. As Max got to be 7 months old he was getting very powerful and actually pulled me over. Wow! I don’t even know that I would be able to explain the wonderful experience I’ve had with Zen Paws and Shawn. I searched for many months for the “perfect puppy “and when I finally found him, he did not fit my description of perfect. He seemed very calm and relaxed until the second day. he started Jumping on everyone all the time, he snapped at my mom’s dogs, at one point tried to bite me, chewed everything, and was not potty trained(Even though I have been told he was). I immediately called Zen Paws. From the first conversation, which was over an hour of Shawn’s time, I started to feel hope. At one point, I thought I might have to return him. She came to my house for the first visit, which was several hours, and I signed up right away. Each time following, she came to my house. She always brought informative handouts to leave with step-by-step directions of different things we were working on. This was very helpful in case I forgot stuff and needed to refer back to it or explain something to my family. She worked on Issues I was personally having, along with introducing new things that would be helpful in the future. within just a short time, he had made drastic change. He was potty trained, able to follow some commands, and walk on a leash without excessive pulling. Shawn is so patient, and beyond helpful. She told me I could contact her anytime, and I am sure she quickly regretted that!!! I Text her multiple times throughout the day often, to share information, ask questions run situations by her. She always thoroughly responds! It’s like she’s there whenever I need her. in addition, I also signed up for “puppy Boot Camp “ as I call it. He goes to her house, one day a week from the morning until I get off work in the afternoon. She spends individual time with him the whole day, working on things, and socializing him with balanced dogs, teaching him how to interact properly. If there is something particularly hard for me, she will work on it with him at her house along with teaching him new things. This has made a world of difference. Investing with Zen Paws has been one of the better purchases I’ve ever made. Shaun is absolutely wonderful to work with and extremely accommodating. My dog loves her so much and is beyond excited when he sees her!!!!! I cannot recommend her program more. If you were considering Using her services, I urge you to at least schedule a meeting, you will be convinced!!!!

Shawn is AMAZING! What to expect when Shawn comes to your home….she is going to teach you to understand how a pack works. She teaches you what they do in the wild. She isn’t going to train the dog how to be humanized, she’s teaching you how to be the pack leader. She is very patient and straightforward. She will guide you gently but will be firm if needed. She is a 15/10 in my book! I never thought I would be able to be a good leader, but with her guidance I am succeeding!

This is our three year old wild, strong willed fur baby pictured with the most patient, down to earth, “let’s do this”, phenomenal woman who not only did miracles for our boy but helped us teach, guide and train him into being such a well behaved, obedient pup! I STRONGLY recommend her, there is nothing she can’t do, and not only trained our pup but was there to help and guide us with any questions or concerns we had, it made training fun!
